Templar Knife Unveils New OTF Knife – Cali Legal Micro

December 2021 - (Dallas, Texas) - Templar Knife, founded in 2018 is becoming the trusted leader of exceptional quality automatic knives and is one of the fastest growing brands in this sector of the recreation, sporting, and outdoor markets.  Their OTF design has been a game changer and knife owners everywhere are wanting a Templar in their pocket. Templar is proud to introduce the newest knife in their OTF line up, the Cali Legal Micro.

The Cali Legal Micro internals have been re-engineered offering a smoother, more dependable action. It features a handle made of 6061-T6 (Aged) Aluminum which is machined out of a solid billet allowing for significantly better tolerances.  Its blade material is black oxide stonewashed powder D2 for superior edge retention and resistance to corrosion. This blade is built to last. The Templar knurling on the top and bottom of the handle adds to a more comfortable grip. The internal parts are all CNC’d to complement the precision giving the smoothest action in Templar’s price range.

President and Co-Owner, Shawn Cauble tells us, “People kept asking us to make the Cali Legal Micro. They would say, I don’t want to carry a regular sized knife, I just want something I can open my Amazon boxes and mail with. The National Association of Sporting Goods Wholesalers was originally identified as the Sporting Goods Jobbers Association. In 1962 the name was officially changed, and manufacturers and reps were invited to join as Associate members. The NASGW is the organizer and sponsor of the industry's former Hunting Show, now known as the NASGW Annual Meeting/Expo Event. This annual event provides an unmatched educational, marketing and communications opportunity for the hunting and shooting sports wholesaler, manufacturer and sales professional.

The company is led by a group of passionate bladesmiths that recognized the widespread need for innovative products made from the finest materials with one-of-a-kind designs.

Their OTF design is changing the game and knife owners everywhere are wanting a Templar in their pocket. Backed by a Lifetime Warranty, all of Templar Knife’s products are designed and developed in the Company’s home state of Texas. After a successful career in IT sales, founder Shawn Cauble needed a new challenge. As a collector, and having a fascination with knives that dates all the way back to when he was a kid hunting in west Texas, Shawn knew he wanted the new venture to center around this passion.

Shawn’s business partner, Wes Burnett who is the creative mind and innovator behind Templar approached him in 2017 with the idea for a new OTF knife. The stars seemed to align and later that year, they decided to test the market. They wanted their OTF to be the best quality knife on the market for the best value so set they out to make it so.

In creating that product, they also wanted to build a company based on values and beliefs that were important to them.  Templar Knife is built on these four pillars: Quality, Customer Service, Education, and Integrity. Integrity is paramount in knife making, and unlike many, at Templar, they don’t cut costs when it comes to blade steel, and they don’t shortcut by buying imitation steels. A Damascus blade by Templar is guaranteed to be a top-quality Damascus.

There are big things in the works at Templar that consumers and retailers can expect to be coming soon. Mainly, there will be significant expansion to their line. They are working on their first folder and hope to release it early 2022. A quality hunting knife is also in the works. This has been a focused collaboration with Shawn’s daughter who has a PHD in Ruminant Nutrition and Masters in Meat Science. With her experience in running meat labs and processing beef, she has a good handle on what hunters need when processing their foods. Templar expects this knife to land in Q1 of 2022.  Lastly, they are working on a line for the BBQ Master. This line will consist of a boning knife, six and eight inch Chef knives, a breaking knife, and a slicer. These will all be made with RWL34 steel from Damasteel out of Sweden. The prototypes have surpassed expectations and they are more than excited about how the steel has performed. They have a patent on a knife in the works and they expect this set to launch toward the end of 2022.
